    Talking “Grown-Up Gigs” With Michelle Ward

    11th January 2013

    {making it big on the small screen – me and Michelle on YouTube!}

    Earlier this week, I sat down with career coach Michelle Ward for a chat about the business of blogging, why I hate the word “networking,” and just how I got here anyway.

    If you weren’t able to catch the live webcast, you can view the video here.

    {Michelle sure knows how to reel ‘em in}

    Give it a watch, then tell me:

    Would you want to see more video content here on Style Girlfriend? Michelle’s set-up didn’t seem all that complicated, so if a Luddite like me can figure out how to film it, would you want to watch it?

    • WhenIGroUpCoach

      A Luddite like you can SO figure it out/do it/make it happen! You’re a super natural, lady….I vote YES to more video of you, with those smart words and purdy face!

      My mind was blown when I realized you were both sitting in the same room together, and it was not a split screen. Which is what I assumed when I saw the screenshot.

        ha! yeah, we were thinking about doing it that way at first, but then we realized we could go to lunch together after if we did it in the same place :)

    • Dan from Wisconsin

      Gahh this makes me want to start my own blog.

        I am taking that as a huge compliment! glad I could inspire you at least a little :)

    • Chris Rogers

      That was very enlightening, I definitely enjoyed it and I think it’s the only youtube video longer than a few minutes I’ve ever watched. How would you incorporate video content and what sort of topics would you cover?

      • http://www.stylegirlfriend.com Style Girlfriend

        Good question! I was thinking I could start filming answers to reader questions. Whaddayathink?

        • Chris Rogers

          I definitely think video content would be a great addition to the site! I know you talk about trying to connect with brands in the industry so I could see video content of product reviews or even product launches. Honestly, I’ve always hoped for something similar to the TLC show “What Not to Wear” but targeted towards your male audience!

          I will say, if you branch into video content take a page from Michelle’s book and get the hardware and software to do it right the first time around :)

      It was interesting to finally hear your actual voice since I’ve only ever imagined it when I read your articles.

      • http://www.stylegirlfriend.com Style Girlfriend

        ha, totally! was it what you expected?

        • Ben

          Yeah it was close enough. And it’s nice to have an actual reference for future reading.

    • Jeff

      I’m not really much for commenting, but I’ve been following your blog for a couple of years now and I just wanted to say that I appreciate everything you are doing here. I am glad that you were able to find success doing something you enjoy and I hope that your brand continues to grow and flourish. It has been a privilege to sort of be there with you along the way. It was also nice to finally hear the voice behind those words that have become a regular part of my week. Keep up the good work!

      Jeff
